Schools across Queensland are using Containers for Change to raise money for resources, activities and equipment while helping students understand the value of recycling.
By collecting eligible containers at school or encouraging families and the wider community to donate their 10-cent refunds, schools can create an ongoing fundraising stream and make recycling part of everyday school life.
Schools can take part in a way that suits their community. You might collect containers used on campus, run a class competition, collect at school events, organise a collection drive or invite families to donate their refunds using your school’s Containers for Change member number.
Find posters, social media tiles, guides and other ready-to-use resources to help promote your school’s fundraising and encourage more 10-cent container collections below.
Drayton State School in Toowoomba raised more than $900 through a school container collection competition, helping students contribute towards the cost of camps and excursions.
The competition encouraged classes to work together, made recycling visible across the school and showed students how small actions can add up to a practical result.
Through a partnership between Containers for Change and P&C Queensland, eligible state primary and secondary schools in South East Queensland can apply for a free donation point on school grounds.
