Businesses

Queensland businesses are using Containers for Change to make recycling easier for staff, customers and visitors, while turning eligible containers into 10-cent refunds that can support local causes, charity partners or workplace sustainability goals.

From tourist parks and hospitality venues to offices, shopping centres and commercial sites, businesses can build container collection into their day-to-day operations in a way that is simple, visible and measurable.

How your business can get involved

Businesses can participate in different ways depending on their site, container volume and goals. Some set up collection points for staff and customers, others direct refunds to an existing charity partner or community group, and some use container recycling as part of broader waste reduction or sustainability programs.

Our Partner Program can help identify the best collection approach for your business, including how containers will be stored, collected and returned through the scheme. Refunds can be kept by the business, donated to a nominated cause or reinvested into environmental and community initiatives.

Coles staff have since diverted more than 520,000 containers from landfill thanks to the program being rolled out across more than 180 stores in Queensland.

Broadwater Tourist Park

A Gold Coast tourist park has turned container recycling into life-saving support after raising $32,642 for the Leukaemia Foundation, inspired by a family’s personal battle with cancer.

By giving guests and staff a simple way to return eligible containers, Broadwater Tourist Park has shown how everyday recycling can become a meaningful fundraising stream for a cause close to home.
