Residents of Morayfield now have greater convenience in recycling their drink containers after a new Containers for Change refund point opened this week.
Envirobank Morayfield has opened a new depot to accept eligible beverage containers for a 10-cent refund through the state-wide Containers for Change scheme.
The shop-front style depot allows customers to receive instant refunds in their bank or PayPal accounts by returning drink containers using their unique scheme ID.
Three separate reverse vending machines that allow customers to feed their containers in automatically are on site, ensuring the minimisation of customer waiting
times.
The depot offers accessibility in its central location at 166 Morayfield Road where customers can take advantage of extended trading hours from 7am until 6pm seven days a week.
While the Containers for Change scheme has overseen the return of more than 4.5 billion drink containers in Queensland since it was established in late 2018, the opening of Envirobank Morayfield will allow local northside residents to build on the impressive total they have already recycled.
More than 80 million containers and $8 million in refunds have been claimed by individuals, community groups, charities and businesses through refund points in the area.
Ken Noye is the chief executive of Containers Exchange, the not-for-profit organisation that administers the Containers for Change scheme. He said the new depot would present local residents with more choice in the way they recycled drink containers.
“This new depot will give Morayfield residents another easy way to recycle through the Containers for Change scheme,” said Mr Noye.
“Recycling is a job for everyone and with more than a billion containers still available to be recycled across Queensland, there is over $100 million in refunds on offer.
“This is a great incentive to charities, community groups and individuals keen to raise funds by recycling drink containers.
“The new access to recycling at Envirobank Morayfield will make it more convenient for people and community groups in the area to return those containers for a 10-cent refund.”
Residents in the Morayfield area can also cash in eligible drink containers through the following Container Refund Points:
